Peanut Butter Product Recall – Updated 2/18!

January 23, 2009 · 2 Comments

Upon investigation of recent Salmonella oubreaks that have left 480 sick and 6 dead (no cases reported in Florida), the FDA has confirmed that the offending products contained peanut butter and/or peanut paste produced by the Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) at its Blakely, Georgia processing plant.

At Native Sun, we take the health and safety of our customers very seriously. At first mention of this recall, we pulled any possibly affected items from our shelves, posted notice and supplied our Customer Service desks with the most up to date information. While we continue to research this issue, please take caution when consuming any product with peanut butter as a main ingredient (this does not affect jars of peanut butter), or contains peanut butter paste. For the most current list of recalls, please consult the FDA’s online listing here

Native Sun Customers Donate $2500 to Sulzbacher

January 13, 2009 · 1 Comment

I wanted to start off our blog with a big thank you to our customers!

Our GreenApples Charity of the Month for December 2008 was the Sulzbacher Center, Northeast Florida’s only provider of comprehensive services for homeless men, women and children. Customers were able to donate change at the registers as well as purchase pre-made bags of much needed toiletries for the Sulzbacher Center at $4 a piece.

In just 31 days, customers purchased over 450 toiletry bags and donated over $700 for a whopping total of  $2548.77 in product and cash for Sulzbacher! This is our biggest success yet with the GreenApples program – and it’s all because of you. Your generosity will benefit hundreds of men, women and children who are in need, right here in Jacksonville, and we couldn’t be prouder.

Native Sun staffer Michael Drinkwater hands off over $2500 in product and donations raised by Native Sun customers for the Sulzbacher Center.
